Crypto and DeFi have opened up a lot of doors for new earning opportunities, from things like yield farming and earning on-chain through investing to play-to-earn games and Web3 industry work. The cryptocurrency world is vast, and those earning on-chain are becoming more common as the Web3 industry grows.

One of the problems with cryptocurrency, though, is that it’s difficult to off-ramp your crypto into a bank account in order to pay bills. In the past you would have to send your crypto to a centralized exchange, then off-ramp that crypto to a bank account by cashing it out for fiat currency. The process is time consuming and often takes several days for your earnings to reflect in your account. Spritz changes that.

Spritz connects your real-world bill pay accounts to your crypto wallet so that you can pay your bills directly, in seconds, with the crypto you keep in your wallet. There is no need to off-ramp into a bank account or swap crypto for fiat. Spritz makes it easier than ever to actually use the crypto you earn in the real world. Here is how to pay your bills with crypto using Spritz:

1. Setting up your Spritz account

Set up your Spritz account by connecting your email address. First you’ll need to answer a couple of quick questions to verify your identity, and then you can begin adding your bill-pay accounts. You’ll need to link your email and phone number, so have your phone ready by your side.

2. Adding your bills

Once you’ve completed your account verification, follow the next steps in your Spritz app to begin connecting your bills. There are two options for connecting your bills to Spritz.

If you'd like Spritz to find your bills for you, we run a soft credit check to pull your bill-pay account information. This is done to make sure we get the right accounts and won’t show up on your credit report. You’ll need to answer some additional questions to confirm your home address and other security questions, but we won’t ask for sensitive information like your social security number or the keys to your crypto wallet.

Once you have answered the questions, you can add the bill-pay accounts connected to your name and address. Scroll through the options and add any accounts you might want to pay for with crypto, and they’ll be waiting in your Spritz account to be paid at any time.

If you prefer to find and add your bills yourself, you can do that as well! Spritz makes it easy to search for your bill pay provider (with over 1000+ bill pay integrations) and then enter your account information to add any number of bills.

3. Connecting your wallet

This is also where you’ll connect your wallet, so make sure you’re using a browser that has your wallet connected to it. You can connect any major crypto wallet such as a MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet to fund your bill payments.

If you don't see a wallet provider, such as MetaMask, when connecting on mobile, you can use WalletConnect to easily connect your MetaMask or any other Web3 wallet you use via its QR code.

Spritz will never ask you for your private key information.

4. Making a test payment

When you set up your first bill payment on Spritz you have the opportunity to make a test payment to get a feel for how Spritz works without the obligation of submitting a full bill payment. Set up a test payment in your Spritz account by choosing the bill you would like to pay.

A prompt will appear where you can pre-select payments that value up to $1, $5, or $10, or submit a custom amount. We'll match any payment you make up to $10, so you can make an even bigger payment when you use Spritz for the first time!

Once you've chosen how much you'd like to pay in your first test payment, choose the asset you want to pay with and then click on "Allow Spritz to pay with your [crypto]" to confirm the transaction in your wallet!

5. Paying a bill

Setting up a bill payment with Spritz only takes a couple of seconds. When you’re ready to pay a bill, click on the Bills section of your account dashboard. Scroll through the bills you’ve connected to your account (or add another) and click on “Pay with crypto” to set up a payment.

Next, choose the blockchain you want to use for the transaction. Currently, you can pick from the Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Polygon networks. Once you're on your chosen blockchain, choose the asset you’d like to pay with and enter the amount in USD. Spritz supports payment with any token on the Ethereum, BNB Chain, or Polygon networks, including native tokens like ETH, MATIC, and BNB, as well as popular altcoins and stablecoins, including USDC and USDT.

Once you’re ready, submit the payment by clicking on the “Pay with” button and then confirm the transaction and gas estimate in your wallet. You may first need to "Accept" the transaction in your wallet, and then complete the payment transaction.

When you’ve initiating the payment, wait just a few moments for it to confirm on the blockchain. If using faster networks like Polygon or BNB Chain, this should only take a few seconds and the gas fees should be minimal (pennies!).

Once the transaction is confirmed you’ll get a notification in the app and via email. That’s it! You don’t need to do anything else.

You'll also be able to track the progress of each payment by switching through the In-progress & Completed payments tabs on the Bills screen.

You can use Spritz to choose from thousands of bill-pay accounts in the United States. Here are some of the types of bills you can pay with crypto on Spritz:

  • Mortgage
  • Credit cards
  • Utility bills
  • Entertainment subscriptions
  • Phone bill
  • Student loan
  • Auto payment

Tips for getting the most out of Spritz

If the bill payment account you’d like to pay doesn’t show up automatically when you look for a new account, you can try adding the account numbers manually. Do this by clicking “Don’t see your bill? Add one here” just below the search bar in the “Link a bill” pop up window. Enter your account information to link the bill and set up a payment when you’re done.

If you get stuck at any point in the process, we have several ways to support you. You can open the in-app chat widget to start a conversation with Spritz Support. Plus, you can click on "Share feedback" in the top navigation to leave us feedback, report bugs, and more.

Spritz makes it easier than ever to pay bills with crypto. Use the app to set up a bill payment in seconds and don’t worry about having to off-ramp into a bank to use your crypto in the real world.
