Spritz is one of the first apps that lets you pay your real-world bills on-chain by connecting your bill-pay accounts directly to your crypto wallet.

Crypto and DeFi have opened up a lot of doors for new earning opportunities, from things like yield farming and earning on-chain through investing to play-to-earn games and Web3 industry work. The cryptocurrency world is vast, and those earning on-chain are becoming more common as the Web3 industry grows.

One of the problems with cryptocurrency, though, is that it’s difficult to off-ramp your crypto into a bank account in order to pay bills. In the past you would have to send your crypto to a centralized exchange, then off-ramp that crypto to a bank account by cashing it out for fiat currency. The process is time consuming and often takes several days for your earnings to reflect in your account. Spritz changes that.

Spritz connects your real-world bill pay accounts to your crypto wallet so that you can pay your bills directly, in seconds, with the crypto you keep in your wallet. There is no need to off-ramp into a bank account or swap crypto for fiat. Spritz makes it easier than ever to actually use the crypto you earn in the real world. Here is how to pay your bills with crypto using Spritz:

Setting up your Spritz account

Set up your Spritz account by connecting your email address. First you’ll need to answer a couple of quick questions to verify your identity, and then you can begin adding your bill-pay accounts. You’ll need to link your email and phone number, so have your phone ready by your side.

Adding a bill

Once you’ve completed your account verification, follow the next steps in your Spritz app to begin connecting your bills. Spritz runs a soft credit check to pull your bill-pay account information. This is done to make sure we get the right accounts and won’t show up on your credit report. You’ll need to answer some questions about your home address and other security questions, but we won’t ask for sensitive information like your social security number or the keys to your crypto wallet.

Once you’ve completed the security questions you can add the bill-pay accounts connected to your name and address. Scroll through the options and add any accounts you might want to pay for with crypto, and they’ll be waiting in your Spritz account to be paid each month.

Connecting your wallet

This is also where you’ll connect your wallet, so make sure you’re using a browser that has your wallet connected to it. You can connect any major crypto wallet such as a MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet. Spritz will never ask you for your private key information.

Paying a bill

Setting up a bill payment with Spritz only takes a couple of seconds. Log into your account when you’re ready to pay a bill and click on the bills section of your profile. Scroll through the bills you’ve connected to your account (or add another) and click on “Pay from Wallet” to set up a payment.

Next choose the asset you’d like to pay with and enter the amount. Right now Spritz accepts major stablecoins like USDC, USDT, and DAI, with more cryptocurrency integration to come soon. Once you’re ready, submit the payment by clicking on the “Pay with” button and then confirm the transaction and gas estimate in your wallet.

When you’ve signed the transaction, wait just a few moments for it to confirm on the blockchain. Spritz uses the Polygon network so this should only take a couple of seconds and the gas fees should be pretty minimal. Once the transaction is confirmed you’ll get a notification in the app and via email. That’s it! You don’t need to do anything else.

You can use Spritz to choose from thousands of bill-pay accounts in the United States. Here are some of the types of bills you can pay with crypto on Spritz:

  • Mortgage
  • Credit card bills
  • Utilities
  • Entertainment subscriptions
  • Phone bill
  • Car payment

Tips for getting the most out of Spritz

If the bill payment account you’d like to pay doesn’t show up automatically when you look for a new account, you can try adding the account numbers manually. Do this by clicking “Don’t see your bill? Add one here” just below the search bar in the “Link a bill” pop up window. Enter your account information to link the bill and set up a payment when you’re done.

Spritz is on Polygon, so you’ll need to bridge any assets on other networks if you want to pay your bills with tokens that are on the Ethereum, Binance, or Solana blockchains. If you’re transferring assets from a centralized exchange like Coinbase, the coins will most likely automatically be sent to an Ethereum wallet first when you send them from the exchange into your wallet. Luckily bridging those assets to the Polygon network is quick and easy. You can learn how to bridge assets to Polygon here.

Spritz makes it easier than ever to pay bills with crypto. Use the app to set up a bill payment in seconds and don’t worry about having to off-ramp into a bank to use your crypto in the real world. Cheers!
